This uses a simple net chill hour model — each hour between 0°C and 7.2°C adds one chill hour, each hour ≥15.5°C subtracts one (heat negation), following the standard "hours below threshold" convention. Season start defaults to 1 May, the standard Southern Hemisphere dormancy counting date, but can be adjusted above. This is a reasonable planning estimate, not a substitute for a nearby weighted station or the Richardson/Utah/Dynamic models used in formal orchard chill forecasting. Treat totals as indicative, especially for sites with strong microclimate effects (frost hollows, elevation, coastal buffering).
